Vancouver Island has beautiful and iconic trails. Greater Victoria offers 16 scenic trails to choose from, and the best of them intersect near the future home of Lakeside West.

For instance, Mount Finlayson Trailhead is 7 minutes away. The mountain offers an excellent journey for experienced hikers.

There are nearby parks and green spaces as well. Goldstream Provincial Park & Mill Hill Regional Park are both just 6 minutes away. Goldstream attracts visitors from all around during the salmon spawning season. Mill Hill is a perfect hike and picnic spot for families seeking panoramic views.

Mount Wells Regional Park and Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park are a 7- and 5-minute drive. Mount Wells is a small regional park at Humpback Lake with second-growth forest and great views. Like Finlayson, it’s suitable for experienced hikers. The Sooke Hills Wilderness Trail is fantastic for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

Love water activities? If you’re moving into the area, you’re going to find it all here on South Vancouver Island, from scuba diving to kayaking, swimming to fishing, with lakes and ocean beaches just a short drive or bicycle ride away.

Langford Lake is just a stone’s throw away. A two-minute walk takes you down to a public dock and beach.

Two other lakes just five-minute drive away are Florence Lake and Thetis Lake. Both are about a five-minute drive away. They are both excellent for fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking and nature exploration.

If you’re looking for ocean beaches, Esquimalt Lagoon and Witty’s Lagoon are about 20 minutes away. There are plenty of places where you can rent water equipment, such as West Shore Rowing and Paddling Centre. One of the more unique rentals includes Hot Tub Boat Victoria, which allows you to explore the Gorge waterway in a hot tub. Okay, maybe that’s not a water sport, but it’s sure fun!
